Bullet Train to Hiroshima

Jim Geiger posing with a bullet train in Japan

We got on the 12:50 train, #111, the Nozomi Super Express. OMG was my initial reaction. I had been wanting to ride a bullet train for years and my chance was here. Once we left the station, my first reaction to the movement was that it felt like my first ride in a Tesla–smooth and fast. We were up to speed very quickly and approached speeds of 200 mph on various portions of the trip. It took us only 4 hours to get to Hiroshima, a trip that typically takes a car 13 hours. I am still coming down from this amazing experience.

As we left the train station, we found a taxi to take us to 88 House, a traditional Japanese home, whose owners rent rooms to travelers. I showed the driver the directions I had received from Kengo, the owner, and we were on our way. We were greeted by Kengo and his family and shown to our room. It was everything and more that we expected. It was delightful.
