The helicopter lifted off at 11:00 am and we were on our way to Reef Magic‘s platform on a nearby reef. The ride was 30 minutes and gave us a brief overview of the complexity of the 1,400-mile-long reef. Once on the platform, I took advantage of the glass bottom boat to get a closer look at the coral and fish. Others on the platform were snorkeling or scuba diving. After lunch, I settled into a lounge chair on the top deck and took a nap. At 3:30 I took the 90-minute catamaran ride back to the marina. The sea was quite choppy all day and I was glad to finally get back on solid ground.
Tomorrow morning it’s on to Japan and to meet up with my daughter, Shelly, in Tokyo.
